Live edge black walnut charcuterie board. Medium sized. Great for movie night.

It's All In The Wood

So you're planning on having a Friday get together with a few friends. You've already got the wine selection, glasses set out, cheeses, meats, olives and whatever else you like for the charcuterie board ready to go. You can make your board full of your favorites or make it sparse. It can literally be whatever you want it to be. There are no rules here!

There are some of us who believe the board used to lay out your charcuterie should be equally entertaining.

That's where board selection comes in.  There's lots of boards to choose from and you will likely come across terms like live edge wood and dimensional wood so hopefully you have a preference. If not, choosing the right board or boards can also be fun.

If you clicked on the links above, you're probably ready to start looking at live edge boards and dimensional boards, or maybe both. Remember that thing about no rules here!

There are large boards and small boards, round boards  and squared boards.

Your board should be something more than what you use to lay out your food. You might as well use a plate for that. That's just my humble opinion. Your board could and should, at some point in the gathering, be a point of focus. I have personally attended a dinner where one of my boards was used. At some point the conversation changed from neighborhood events to "this amazing board."  That was very humbling and pleasing at the same time.

Everything stated in this blog is my personal opinion or personal experience.

Some of the outside links I included because I thought they might prove helpful or interesting. Of course my goal is to promote my boards, but if I come across something that I believe you might find interesting or helpful, I will absolutely include the link if possible.

So get those folks over to the house for the shindig and put out your charcuterie board and let them fawn all over it and smile. It's your board. Enjoy it!
